Changing domain password with email-only domain account

Your Windows password could not be changed. To change your password, you must log on to your organization's network or contact your system administrator.

Why is it that some programmers are so quick to abandon their users with a remark like 'we don't support x64'?  This is a quick story about making a developer's app work in x64, even though the developer did not seem to have any interest in making it happen...
